I jumped in the river after you, but I didn't get through, I didn't get through I pulled you out of a dark coal mine, not in time, Lord not in time Now I sit on a mountain high, as my memories go passing by I will never hole you close, I'm the story of The Cumberland Ghost We fired corn liquor from a mountain still, way back in the hill, way back in the hill The revenue men with guns came from the town, and laid me in the ground, Lord they laid me in the ground Now I sit on a mountain high, as my memories go passing by I will never hold you close, I'm the story of The Cumberland Ghost In the Cumberland Hills there's many ways to die, and I've known every one of these I've roamed these hills for many moons gone by, this song now has lifted, and set my spirit free

Work 02:42
I run this coal mine, I run this town I send them miners way underground What I want to know, How much we make today I"m in a hurry, I ain't got time Its a long weekend at the Lonesome Pine I suggest you go to church, or scrape it off my boot I've got a long way to go My tears have dried up, like the river bed. Empty hands stretch out to me, as I turn my head The ghosts they dance around, the shadows as I sleep The mists are heavy, the clouds are dark The night is creeping upon my heart How will I ever find my way to get back home? I've got a long way to go

I'll wait for you, you wait for me in Louisville The stars shine so bright through the Blue Kentucky night keep the fire burning hot for the still Disappear into the dark of night, travel across the hills toward the light Move a little quicker with a car full of liquor, in the morning everything will be alright Policemen don't like what we do, unless they get their share of revenue We make the finest shine from here to Caroline, keep them jugs full of good ole mountain dew When I look into my darlin's eyes, doesn't take me long to realize Our love is so strong, it will carry on through the night to the morning sunrise The revenue men they came upon the hill, and chopped down our moonshine still I took my stand on that Cumberland land now my picture sits on the window seal

On High 03:09
Do you know what it feels to be free? Said the old owl sitting in the top of the tree Look across that valley wide, and hear the songs coming from on high Lalalala Have you ever smelled the sweet perfume, of the honeysuckle vine in the month of June? Drift away across the sky, and hear the songs coming from on high Lalala Have you felt the warmth of the rising sun? Night is gone and the day has come. Look down deep into my eyes, and hear the songs coming from on high

I've got a gal, she's so tall touches the top of the waterfall I've got a gal, she's so small, fits in my pocket boots and all Cumberland Gap Cumberland Gap, I"m going back to Cumberland Gap I've got a gal, she's so mean, sprinkles coal dust in the pinto beans I've got a gal, she's so round, every little step makes a hole in the ground Cumberland Gap Cumberland Gap, I'm going back to Cumberland Gap
